Nominations are now open for the 2016 Premier’s Sustainability Awards, which showcase the work of Queenslander’s who are setting best-practice benchmarks in environmental performance with Queensland councils encouraged to nominate their energy, water and waste saving projects to be recognised for outstanding innovation that results in reduced environmental impact.
Applications are open to Queensland-based initiatives, businesses, communities, schools, individuals, primary producers, not-for-profit organisations and local government areas that share the Government’s commitment to a more sustainable future.
By embracing innovation in the way we do business and how we live our everyday lives we can all help protect Queensland’s unique environment and help mitigate the effects of climate change.
Each category winner will also receive $2,500 to support on-going or future sustainability projects.
Winners will be officially announced on Thursday 17 November at an awards presentation dinner hosted by the Premier at the Brisbane Convention and Exhibition Centre.
