Central Highlands Regional Council is calling for nominations for the 2019 Australia Day Awards.
Each year, the awards recognise and honour those who make an outstanding contribution to the community.
Mayor Kerry Hayes said the awards are a chance to formally recognise, celebrate and reward community champions and unsung heroes.
‘Australia Day awards are all about thanking those people who make our community a better place – by the work they do, the encouragement they offer or simply the passion they show,’ he said.
‘I encourage everyone to look and see if there’s someone they feel should be nominated.’
Nominators need to carefully read the category selection criteria and conditions of entry before filling in the nomination form.
All the relevant information can be found on the council website or by dropping into a local council office.’
Categories are:
- Citizen of the Year
- Young Citizen of the Year
- Community Event of the Year
- Senior Sportsperson/ Administrator of the Year
- Junior Sportsperson of the Year
- Cultural Award
Completed nomination forms must be returned to council by 5.00 pm on Friday 4 January 2019. Each category will have a winner from the Blackwater/ Duaringa area, Capella/ Tieri area, Emerald/ Gemfields area and Springsure/ Rolleston area.
Winners will be announced at council’s Australia Day celebrations across the Central Highlands.
