Be a part of the next generation of aspiring creatives by entering the very first Central Highlands Regional Council Annual Youth Art Awards.
Mayor Kerry Hayes is encouraging young artists in the Central Highlands to get involved in the inaugural competition.
‘Council is excited to be introducing this new event in 2022, hosted at the Emerald Art Gallery,’ he said.
‘The annual art awards in Emerald and Springsure have attracted a number of high-quality entries from our young people, so we thought why not give them their very own competition.
‘Young and emerging artists from ages 10 to 25 are encouraged to grab their art supplies, tap into their creative selves and enter their artworks for judging.’
There will be three age group sections, each offering three categories.
Age groups are:
- Junior – 10 to 13 years
- Juvenile – 14 to 17 years
- Youth – 18 to 25 years
Categories are:
- Two-dimensional artwork (including painting, drawing or printmaking)
- Three-dimensional and fibre artwork (including pottery and sculpture – maquettes, carving, timber, metal, stone, plastic, assemblage, fibre, mosaics etc.)
- Photography and digital artwork (including video)
Each category and age group will have a first and second prize awarded, as well as an overall people’s choice award, with $1500 accumulated prize money up for grabs.
Entries close at 5.00 pm Friday 3 June 2022.
