Beginning Saturday 1 July, requests for donations, in-kind support and fee waivers for community events will be directed to an application form via council’s SmartyGrants website.
‘We all know how important community events are to making our region such a great place to live,’ said General Manager Communities John McDougall.
‘Council has been supporting community events for many years, but there hasn’t been a formal grant process until now,’
‘With this new process, we are spreading the word that council is happy to help and support community-led initiatives in our region,’ he continued.
Every quarter of the financial year, a new round of allocated funding will be available as follows:
- Interim round (Apply now for events between 1 July and 30 September)
- Round 1 (Apply by Monday 31 July 2023) – for events planned between Sunday 1 October 2023 and Sunday 31 December 2023)
- Round 1 or 2 (Apply by Tuesday 31 October 2023) – for events planned between Monday 1 January 2024 and Sunday 31 March 2024)
- Round 1, 2 or 3 (Apply by Wednesday 31 January 2024) – for events planned between Monday 1 April 2024 and Sunday 30 June 2024
- Round 1, 2, 3 or 4 (Apply Tuesday 30 April 2024) – for events planned between Monday 1 July 2024 and Monday 30 September 2024
Applicants can apply for up to $10,000 of combined cash and in-kind funding.
Successful applicants will only receive one allocation per financial year. Unsuccessful applicants may continue to apply for a grant in subsequent rounds. This means, if your community group/organisation has received a grant in round 1, you are not eligible to apply for another grant until round 1 of the 2024/2025 financial year.
