The Blackwater Aquatic Centre has won yet another award.
After recently taking out regional titles at the 2018 Queensland Architecture Awards, the facility progressed to the state title taking out the Public Architecture F.D.G. Stanley Award.
The category was awarded to architects Liquid Blu, with a note by the jury that the centre responded sensitively to the climate and its rural context and, with that, making a positive contribution to the community.
Central Highlands Regional Council CEO Scott Mason said the credit goes to everyone involved in the project.
‘We’re extremely proud of the achievements this facility has had and the awards are a credit to everyone involved in the planning, design, construction and the running of it,’ he said.
‘The fact that it just keeps winning shows that we’re in the business for sustainable and cutting-edge development in the region,’ he said.
Last year, the centre took out the award for Design and Construction of Public Works Projects over $10 million Institute of Public Works engineering Australasia, Queensland Excellence Awards.
Contractors, Hutchinson Builders, were recognised for the Central Queensland Project of the Year, as well as awarded for Sporting Facilities and Commercial Building up to $5 million at the Central Queensland Master Builder Awards.
