It’s on again for young and old, with the annual Central Highlands Seniors Week luncheon just around the corner.
Residents are invited to join the Mayor and councillors at the Capella Cultural Centre from 10.00 am on Wednesday 23 August 2017.
‘Seniors Week is an opportunity for Queenslanders of all ages to join together and celebrate the valuable contributions of older people,’ Mayor Cr Kerry Hayes said.
‘Here in the Highlands, we are truly grateful for the seniors in our communities who play an active and vital role in making our region a great one. This event is an opportunity for us to pay thanks to our golden oldies, celebrate their achievements and catch up with friends.’
Keeping with tradition, the oldest male and female guests will be crowned the Seniors Week ‘King and Queen’ and there will be performances, trivia games and other awards, including most grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Cr Hayes reminded residents that bookings were essential as there are limited spaces.
‘To register please call council on 1300 242 686,’ he said.
‘We will also be providing free buses, so don’t forget to book a seat if you need one.’
