Submissions are now open for round one of the Central Highlands Regional Council Community Grants program, with more than $180,000 up for grabs.
The program supports a diverse range of groups and not-for-profit organisations operating in the region. The program has three categories –
- Community Assistance – up to $5,000
- Sport and Recreation – up to $5,000
- Community Improvement – up to $20,000
In 2022, the program supported 43 projects over two rounds. Community assistance and sport and recreation recipients received funding towards items such as a new fridge and picnic tables, garden equipment and training aids. Community improvement recipients received funding towards shed construction, lighting, kitchen upgrades and more.
‘There are no requests too big or too small,’ said Mayor Kerry Hayes.
‘If the idea will be positive for the community, it’s encouraged for organisations and clubs to apply’ he said.
Since 2009 council has provided more than $1.7 million in assistance to local community groups and organisations.
Submissions are open until 5.00 pm on 28 February 2023. All applicants will be notified of the outcome of their application by early April 2023.
