Carers Queensland are the NDIS Partner in the Community for those aged 7 – 65 years of age. We deliver the Local Area Coordination services, including linking people to the NDIS and to mainstream and community supports in the Rockhampton Service Region. Our Rockhampton service region covers Rockhampton, Livingstone, Gladstone, Banana and Central Highlands LGA’s.

The Role of the LAC is to help people:

• Understand and access the NDIS
• Create a plan – if you are eligible for NDIS. LAC will have a conversation to learn about the person’s current situation, supports and goals to help develop their plan. It is important to know that LACs cannot approve NDIS plans, this is done by someone from the NDIA
• Implement NDIS plans – The LAC will help people to find and start receiving service in their NDIS plan. The LAC can provide assistance throughout the plan
• Review NDIS plans – The LAC will work with people to make changes to their plan through a plan review
• link to information and support in their community
• to understand how the NDIS works with other government services – this is supports like education, health, justice, housing and transport
