Recipients of the 2024 Central Highlands Regional Council Youth Art Awards were announced last night, Friday 21 June 2024, at the award presentation held at the Emerald Art Gallery.
‘This marks the third year of our arts award competition and presentation dedicated to our youth, and we were thrilled with the incredible attendance,’ said Mayor Janice Moriarty.
‘Congratulations to the talented young artists, and heartfelt thanks to everyone who submitted an entry this year,’ she added.
Emily Wakeling, who is a curator, art educator and writer, judged the artworks last night. Wakeling is Curator of Rockhampton Museum of Art, and previously held positions at Artspace Mackay and Queensland Art Gallery/Gallery of Modern Art. She is a graduate of the University of Queensland, with a Masters degree of Art History, as well as a long-time contributor to international and Australian art journals.

CHRC Youth Art Awards People’s Choice Award 2024
