7 Central Highlands residents became Australian citizens after taking their pledge with Mayor Kerry Hayes on Tuesday September 19 in the Emerald Council Chambers.
The conferees attended from the Philippines, United Kingdom, Fiji, Vietnam, India and Tonga.
‘Welcoming new Australian citizens is truly one of my favourite parts of my role as Mayor,’ said Mayor Hayes.
‘These ceremonies are special events to celebrate the granting of citizenship to our newest citizens from diverse backgrounds,’ he continued.
‘Congratulations to those becoming Australian citizens – it’s been a privilege to welcome our newest citizens to the Central Highlands community.’
