Want a rewarding role that gives back to the Central Highlands community? Join council as an apprentice or trainee commencing in 2024.
From financial services to administration and information and communications technology, a range of exciting positions are up for grabs across 7 teams and 4 departments.
‘Whether you are fresh out of school, looking to re-enter the workforce or just wanting to expand your skillset, these positions are a great opportunity to kick-start your career with local government,’ Acting CEO Carolyn Knudsen said.
‘Council is a unique employer. A career in local government offers hundreds of diverse roles equipping you with transferable skills that could take you anywhere across Australia.’
Supervisor Parks and Gardens Madonna Nelson-Bamford is a perfect example of how starting out as a trainee or apprentice can lead to impressive career development.
‘I started my apprenticeship by upskilling in a Certificate III in Parks and Gardens in 2019 to expand my skill set, gain knowledge and potentially further my career,’ Ms Nelson-Bamford said.
‘If you’re thinking about starting a traineeship, do it. Knowledge is power, and it can change your life!’ she continued.
Ms Knudsen said apprentices and trainees have excellent career prospects at council and beyond, with Ms Nelson-Bamford already progressing to supervisor level.
All successful applicants earn while they learn, gaining a nationally recognised qualification in their field.
‘Once you’re employed with us, you’ll receive a great range of employee benefits, including health, wellbeing and lifestyle benefits over and above your pay,’ Ms Knudsen said.
The annual apprentice and trainee program is a co-funded initiative with the Department of Youth Justice, Employment, Small Business and Training’s Skilling Queenslanders for Work First Start program.
