Central Highlands Regional Council hopes to reopen the Sapphire Aquatic Centre in early 2022 by continuing the search for experienced and qualified pool management.
Due to the extended tender process, the aquatic centre will be closed to the public from Monday 13 December 2021 until new management can be sourced.
‘We understand the closure to the pool is inconvenient for Gemfields residents especially with the school holidays right around the corner,’ said General Manager Communities John McDougall.
‘Until the facility reopens, all Gemfields locals will receive free entry to any Aquatic Centre across the region.’
Valid identification with current address will be required to access the complimentary entry.
Council has received interest from a handful of applicants interested in the Aquatic Centre over the last week and is hoping to reopen the facility as soon as possible.
‘While we are quickly working to review these applications and get the facility open as soon as possible, the communities safety comes first,’ McDougall continues.
‘To ensure the facility and new management meets safety requirements time will need to be spent training and ensuring all qualifications are met before reopening.’
