The Central Highlands Regional Council is changing its biller codes and payment reference numbers for rates, water and animal notices.
The changes are due to a new corporate software system.
General Manager Corporate Services Margaret Gatt said it was essential for customers to thoroughly check the biller code and payment reference number on any upcoming rates, supplementary rates, water or animal notices.
‘Payment reference numbers will now be unique to the type of debt and your debtor account,’ she said.
‘If you have saved our biller code and your payment reference numbers in your internet banking or set up automatic payments it is recommended that you delete these references and update once you receive the new numbers.
‘If you use BPAY View you will also need to re-register with the new biller code and relevant payment reference number.’
Ms Gatt said council was in the process of disabling the old biller codes.
