Something fierce and spiky has taken up residence at the Emerald Visitors Centre!
Local sculptor, Jase Moore, crafted a large art-work piece out of scrap metal named the Emerald Dragon that was displayed at the 2015 Emerald Show attracting a lot of interest.
The sculpture was purchased by a lady from New South Wales who wishes to remain anonymous. The buyer’s generous intention was to donate it for public display in Emerald.
A site for the dragon’s home next to the Emerald Visitor Centre was chosen from a number of possibilities primarily because it will be a talking point for visitors and makes a nice addition to the Emerald Walking Trail that includes the town’s other public art pieces.
The project received funding from the Australian Government’s Regional Arts Fund that supports sustainable cultural development in regional , rural and remote Australia to give artists and communities opportunities to practice and experience the arts.
