With the bushfire rating high across the region, Central Highlands Regional Council joined the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service (QFES) in urging people to be alert and prepared.
Mayor Kerry Hayes said bushfire season is here and fires can start anywhere and anytime.
‘QFES reports of bushfires across all of Queensland spiked over the last week,’ he said.
‘Fire crews and volunteers are on alert, but everyone should play a role in bushfire mitigation.
‘The message remains the same, yet no less crucial – being prepared is the key to bushfire safety.
‘Reduce fire fuel loads; minimise the risk to your home; if you haven’t completed your firebreaks, do them now; and remove clippings and green waste from your yard.
‘Prepare your bushfire survival plan so you’re ready to take action if a bushfire threatens.’
