Established and emerging artists of all ages are invited to submit entries across seven categories for the 2023 Central Highlands Regional Council (CHRC) Annual Art Awards – Springsure.
With more than $6,000 in this year’s prize pool, all artists from easel-based to digital art are encouraged to submit their work.
Each year, judges award the prestigious Central Highlands Regional Council Acquisitive Award of $2,000 to the most outstanding work from the first five categories.
Last year’s Acquisitive prize was awarded to Sharon Kirk, for her piece “Landscape Colours” pictured below.
‘The Springsure Art Awards are a valuable way for people in the community to showcase their individual way of ‘being’ in the world and allow others to see how they view the world through a regional lens,’ said Kirk.
‘[the awards] are also an important way of bringing the community together, developing community culture and wellbeing.’
Kirk encourages young and up-and-coming artists to enter the awards to challenge themselves to take their arts practice seriously.
‘Whether a winner or not, the awards give artists exposure to wider audiences, creates networking opportunities, and develops a level of self-confidence,’ she said.
Entries close Friday 10 February 2023 at 5.00 pm.
The official opening of the exhibition will take place on Friday 3 March 2023, at 6:00 pm.
All artworks will be displayed at the Bauhinia Bicentennial Art Gallery – Springsure until Wednesday, 13 April 2022.
