Central Highlands’ new councillors will be regularly dropping in to the region’s thirteen unique communities, as part of the ongoing implementation of the Central Highlands 2022 Community Plan.
Mayor Cr Kerry Hayes said the newly elected council continues to give its full support to the thirteen Community Reference Groups, which were established under the previous council.
‘Our line-up of new councillors have now taken up their places on the 13 CRGs,’ he said.
‘This council remains committed to engaging with community leaders across the region to partner in equally advancing all areas and communities across the Central Highlands.’
With a region almost the size of Tasmania, Cr Hayes said the CRGs provided an opportunity for himself and the other eight councillors to regularly visit the region’s communities and gain a comprehensive understanding of the opportunities and challenges faced in those areas.
The CRGs meet regularly and are made up of community members representing a range of community sectors including youth, seniors, business, rural, sports, recreation, arts, cultural, education, health and community services.
