No garage is safe with more than 400,000 Australians expected to hit the streets for the fifth annual Garage Sale Trail on Saturday October 22.
One big day of garage sales around the country, Garage Sale Trail is a fun and social way to promote reuse, reduce waste to landfill, meet the neighbours and enable fundraising. It’s free to get involved and registration is open to households, community groups, schools, businesses, makers and creators, and anyone who is up for a day of fun.
Councillors Gail Godwin-Smith and Charlie Brimblecombe have volunteered as ambassadors for this year’s event and they’re both pleased that the Garage Sale Trail is back in the Central Highlands for another year.
‘Garage Sale Trail is a simple idea that encourages people to consider how things can be reused whilst also providing an opportunity to raise money. The idea of passing on what you don’t want to a new home is truly a great form of sustainability,’ said Cr Godwin Smith.
‘This is council’s third year partnering the event and each year it gets bigger and better. We had 70 sales registered in the region last year, including a whopping 50 in Emerald.
‘We’ve already got 19 sales registered for this year, so we’re on track for a ripper of a day!’
Registration is free and open to all households, local businesses, schools and community groups at www.garagesaletrail.com.au
