Council wants to hear what you have to say on three related projects in Blackwater: transforming the medians on Mackenzie Street, the future of the All Abilities Park, and revitalising Dempsey Park.
There are three ways to get involved: completing the online survey, attending an in-person consultation session or visiting our pop-up stall.
Consultation sessions are as follows:
- Thursday 26 October 2023 5.30 pm – 7.00 pm, Blackwater Civic Centre (Information session)
- Friday 27 October 2023 8.00 am – 10.00 am, All Abilities Park (pop-up)
- Friday 27 October 2023 10.30 – 2.00 pm, Blackwater Civic Centre (pop-up)
- Friday 27 October 2023 3.00 pm – 4.30 pm, Dempsey Park (pop-up) FREE BBQ!
- Saturday 28 October 8.00 am – 12.00 pm, Blackwater Shopping Centre (pop-up)
Council is wanting to gain ideas to enhance and beautify the medians on Mackenzie Street, evolving the All Abilities Park into a collective space that addresses past challenges, and revitalising Dempsey Park into a destination for the community.
‘The insights and feedback gathered through this engagement process are fundamental. As a regional council in a climate-challenged environment maintaining these spaces presents different challenges to address. This also presents opportunities to think differently about these spaces and design outcomes’ said General Manager Communities John McDougall.
‘The community input will guide the design and development of the identified projects, ensuring that the final plans align with the aspirations and needs of our community balanced with realistic budget and long-term maintenance outcomes,’ he continued.
‘I encourage everyone in Blackwater to pop by one of the sessions and have a say no matter how big or small the suggestion,’ he said.
The online survey will open on Wednesday 25 October 2023 at 8.00 am and will be open for public input until Friday 24 November 2023. A pop-up stall will also be open for the public to visit in the Blackwater Town Centre next to Fair Dinkum Meats from Thursday 26 October through to Friday 24 November 2023.
