The Central Highlands Regional Council and the Queensland Fire and Rescue Service will conduct a number of hazard reduction burns in and around Springsure during September 2017.
Hazard reduction burning, or burning off, involves using controlled fires in the cooler months to manage available fuel loads.
The burn-off is important to minimise potential fire hazards leading up to bush fire season. Safety is our primary concern so the burn off will only be conducted during ideal weather conditions, and as such, completion could take up to three months.
On burn days there will be smoke and it is recommended that resident’s keep windows closed and take their washing off the line.
