The Springsure Hospital Museum celebrated its 150-year anniversary in style with nearly one hundred people gathering on the verandah and in the gardens around the old building last Saturday.
Visitors can now experience an exhibition within the hospital and be inspired by Queensland’s first inland hospital and the only surviving building example of its kind.
Once entered, it’s not only the exhibition, but the building’s walls and features themselves that tell the stories of life and death that took place when our forefathers had little but the basic tools to help when a medical emergency struck.
Visitors will take a step back in time and, whilst re-imagining the hospital and its patron’s stories, be filled with a sense of time between now and then.
The exhibition will run until 20 October 2018 and is open to the public on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm. Access can be arranged outside of these hours by contacting the Central Highlands Regional Council on 1300 242 686 and coach tours are welcome.
