If 2018 is to be the year for a new business or a business expansion, there might be some local financial assistance to get the project underway.
Council offers Regional Economic Development Incentives (REDI) packages that provide stimulus to facilitate economic growth across all commerce and industry in the Central Highlands’ region.
REDI apply to new facilities and structure and for the expansion or modernisation of existing facilities.
The incentive could be in the form of, but is not limited to:
- Rates remission (new and established businesses).
- Reduction or elimination of fees and charges (charged back to the business unit).
- Time schedule for payment of fees and charges.
- Joint marketing or promotions packages.
Each REDI application is assessed on seven primary criteria that include whether the proposal has economic and community benefit to the region, has a minimum capital investment of $500,000, is commercially viable and will employ a minimum of three people.
A fact sheet detailing the assessment criteria, guidelines and application process is available at www.centralhighlands.qld.gov.au or telephone 1300 242 686.
