As a result of the Central Highlands Regional Council’s new kerbside contract with Cleanaway, bin collection days will be changing for Anakie residents and some Blackwater residents as of 6 October 2019.
Council’s Acting General Manager Communities Kirstin Byrne said Anakie residents would now have their bins collected on Fridays instead of Saturdays.
‘The last collection day on the old Anakie schedule will be Saturday 5 October 2019,’ she said.
‘Then the new schedule for Anakie will kick in from Friday 11 October.
‘In Blackwater, collection days have been able to be reduced from three to two to maximise efficiency – with collection only to occur on Mondays and Tuesdays. This means Thursdays will no longer be a collection day.
‘The first day on the new schedule in Blackwater will be Monday 7 October.’
Ms Byrne said if peoples’ bin collection day was changing, they would receive a letter in the mail advising of the new bin day. A map and schedule will also be available on council’s website.
She advised people that the time of collection may also be different to what it has been previously. Collection times are between 6.00 am and 6.00 pm.
‘We understand there will be an adjustment period as the new schedule rolls out, so if people have questions about their bin collection service please don’t hesitate to call council’s customer service team on 1300 242 686,’ Ms Byrne said.
