Works will begin this month in Mayfair Estate on the road and stormwater rehabilitation project.
Mayor Kerry Hayes commented on the state of the road in Mayfair.
‘The road quality in Mayfair Estate has rapidly deteriorated since the project was completed in the late 2000s,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘A lack of appropriate stormwater outlets for wet conditions has resulted in the roadways becoming deformed over time due to pooling water.
‘This is going to be a large project! So, it will be staged over several years, subject to budgeting and council priorities,’ he continued.
A detailed design to reconstruct and rehabilitate the estate has been completed with Seaforth Civil to commence Stage 1 works in the next month.
Some of the benefits of this project include:
- Infrastructure to be of an equal standard to other estates in the region
- Improved stormwater capability to handle rainfall and flooding
- Longer life of the road network
- Smoother, tougher road pavement to accommodate growing traffic usage
