The Central Highlands is once again gearing up for National Youth Week, the largest annual celebration of young people in Australia, with 15 fun-filled events to be held across the region.
From 31 March to 9 April 2017, thousands of young people aged between 10 and 25 will get involved in activities across the country.
‘National Youth Week gives young people the opportunity to share ideas, attend live events, showcase their talents, and most of all to have fun,’ Youth Development Officer Josh Clutterbuck said.
‘This year’s theme is ‘Be Bold, Be Brave, Be You’. Our youth are an important asset to our community, one worth investing in, so it’s really important to recognise their contributions and achievements and encourage them to have a voice.’
A number of free events and activities will be held across the region to mark the celebration, including movie nights, bubble soccer, a regional Instagram competition and a series of free skateboarding workshops run by Ownlife.
Participants will learn to skateboard with Dylan McNamara and Scott Standley. Skateboards and helmets are provided and there will be a best trick competition with prizes.
National Youth Week is a joint Australian Government, state, territory and local government initiative.
