Anyone logging on to the Central Highlands Regional Council website will notice quite a change.
The new-look website has arrived after several months of consultation, planning, tendering and user testing.
According to CEO Scott Mason, the site is just the first stage towards a one-stop online council business centre.
‘We’re working towards a website that is fully integrated with our business so that it offers customers all the services you would expect from a face-to-face transaction. Things like making payments for dog registrations, lodging job requests such as potholes or reporting lost or found animals.
‘Right now we’ve changed the website to give it a modern and fresh look and incorporated a new content management system to provide the foundation for extra technology to be added during the next few months.
‘Like all changes involving technology there’s been a few glitches, but we’re steadily working through them and certainly appreciate any constructive feedback from users.
‘Websites aren’t static. They grow and evolve with technology changes and community expectations. I’m confident our site will do just that to become not only a one-way communication tool, but a useful and reliable transaction centre.’
