Residents of Sapphire and the surrounding areas are encouraged to book an appointment with the QCoal Community Dental Service during its visit over the next two weeks.
This free service, delivered by the Royal Flying Doctor Service will be in Sapphire until 5 March 2016.
Comprising two dental surgeries in a purpose-built semi-trailer, the service provides dental care and treatment in communities where there is limited access to oral health services. The service is funded by the independently owned Queensland mining company QCoal Group through the QCoal Foundation. Anyone can make an appointment, and there is no out-of-pocket cost for patients.
QCoal Group Managing Director Christopher Wallin said the service aimed to bring quality oral health care to people in rural and remote communities.
‘QCoal Foundation was established to enrich rural and remote communities, and I know from talking to our own employees and their families that a lack of access to dental care is a major concern for them,’ Mr Wallin said.
‘Thanks to this service, they can now get the care they need on their doorstep, free of charge.’
