Central Highlands Regional Council is seeking community feedback on what should be included in its Reconciliation Action Plan.
The plan will help council to:
- Actively support and strengthen an understanding of reconciliation within council and throughout communities.
- Identify steps to increase trust, reduce prejudice and strengthen relationships between council and Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and support equity in the region’s workforce.
- Identify actions to demonstrate an inclusive, supportive and appreciative attitude toward Aboriginal and Torres Strait Island histories, cultures and contributions to the community.
The Reconciliation Action Plan is part of council’s work to develop strong, vibrant communities that preserve and promote the heritage and cultures of the region. It is being developed using a framework provided by Reconciliation Australia.
Everyone is encouraged to get involved by giving feedback and sharing their view on what should be included in the Reconciliation Action Plan.
The feedback survey can be completed online and on paper. Hardcopies are available from council’s customer service centres and libraries.
Surveys should be returned by Tuesday 28 August at 5.00 pm, or midnight for the online survey. Click here to complete the survey.
