Every year we get thousands of people travelling through the Central Highlands—the question is, how can we attract more visitors and how can we convince them to stay in the region longer?
Events tourism is a growing industry and is an option for economic growth in the Central Highlands Marketing Plan 2015.
To explore this topic further, council has contracted a leading events strategy consultant, Krista Hauritz, to prepare an events strategy and action plan for the region.
Ms Hauritz and her team will visit the Central Highlands on Thursday 13 July 2017 to conduct a community workshop that will look at case studies around the country and explore the challenges and opportunities for us when considering what type of events to hold and how to resource them.
This is an opportunity not to be missed for anyone interested in promoting events in their town, with ideas to share, with experiences to share, or with questions to ask.
The workshop will be held at the Route 66 Motel at 2 Opal Street Emerald from 10.00 am to 2.00 pm. Lunch is included and numbers will be limited, so RSVP to 4982 8377 or communications@chrc.qld.gov.au no later than 23 June 2017.
