Where do libraries fit in our life today and what will our libraries look like in 10 years’ time?
These are just a couple of the questions about the future of library services in the Central Highlands that Central Highlands Regional Council wants to explore with help from the community.
Council’s General Manager Communities Daniel Fletcher said the libraries of the 21st century must be continually adapting to meet community needs.
‘For the most part, we think of libraries as places with books, magazines and a few computers for visitors and students.
‘But, in 2018, they are so much more. Modern libraries are ‘idea stores’—a place where you can shop for ideas; a place for dreaming and creating; a place to pursue happiness and an education.
‘We know that evolving a library requires planning, which is why it’s so important to know what the Central Highlands’ community wants from their libraries.
‘So we can develop a meaningful strategy for our local library services we’re asking as many people as we can to take just 10 minutes to complete a short online survey to share your ideas,’ Mr Fletcher explained.
‘The survey will be open from 24 April 2018. Just follow the link from council’s website (from Tuesday) to our new community engagement site.’
