Central Highlands Regional Council and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Services will carry out hazard reduction burning in and around Springsure in the coming weeks.
The burning off is planned to commence on Friday 24 August 2018. However, it’s weather dependent and may be postponed if conditions are unsuitable.
Hazard reduction burning, or burning off, involves using controlled fires during cooler months to manage available fuel loads.
It’s important to minimise potential bushfire hazards and, with safety as the primary concern, burning will only go ahead with ideal weather conditions.
On burn days, there will be smoke, and it’s recommended that people keep windows closed and take their washing off the line.
