Back again in 2023, the Healthy Active Highlanders program is a free 8-week initiative encouraging anyone over the age of 14 to come and try a range of free fitness activities.
The program will kick off next Monday, 24 April 2023, with qualified local instructors conducting sessions in Capella, Emerald and Sapphire.
‘The Healthy Active Highlanders program has been well supported by both the community and local instructors in the past. It is great to see it back for 2023,’ said General Manager Communities John McDougall.
‘The program offers free sessions, which is a great way to get active without the need to join a gym or commit long term, or just to add some extra sessions to your routine in different settings with different people,’ he continued.
There is no booking required, but participants will need to bring a water bottle and towel, wear comfortable clothing and sensible footwear.
There will also be a QR code to scan and register before beginning each class.
This year’s instructors are:
Ashleigh Kavanagh – Body Combat & Balance
Jacki Wright – Pilates – Emerald & Capella
Kelly Corbishley – Yoga – Emerald & Sapphire
Emerald Academy of Dance – Stretch/strength and beginner ballet
Lisa Collie– Tai Chi
Leanne Rae – Strength and conditioning
