HOW healthy is your club?
When was the last time you had a good look at how your organisation is running and made changes to make it better?
Or, do you just push it to the side because everyone’s too busy and hope it fixes itself?
If this sounds familiar, then participating in one of the free workshops at the upcoming Central Highlands Sports Forum might be just what the doctor ordered.
The How healthy is your club? workshop aims to help local clubs examine how they are operating and identify areas of improvement.
The three-hour workshop, being held at the Emerald Town Hall from 9.00 am on Sunday 26 February 2017, is built around an online assessment tool called the Club Health Check.
The Club Health Check looks at a number of factors that are crucial to an organisation’s success and combines these results to build an overall picture of the way a club carries out its operations.
Organisations participating in the workshop will be required to complete the checklist by 11 February 2017 and submit their report to the local Sport and Recreation Services office. Results will be collated and solutions to common needs and issues will be shared at the workshop.
The assessment takes about 30 minutes and it is recommended that two or three people from the club complete the online assessment together.
Although the Club Health Check is targeted at sporting organisations, it is beneficial for all types of community organisations.
The workshop is one of seven workshops on offer at the forum, which this year has been expanded to include the Sport and Recreation Conference being held at just a handful of locations across the state. The conference is being delivered by the Queensland Government, in partnership with the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games’ (GC2018) Legacy Program and Central Highlands Regional Council.
The three day conference starts on Friday 24 February 2017 with a full line-up of guest speakers providing the latest information and trends in sport and recreation. It is open to everyone.
Other workshops include The Role of Board Members, Financial Management, Athlete Management, Marketing and Sponsorship, plus basic and advanced strapping.
Registrations are essential and you can register online before Friday, 17 February 2017.
