With great sadness, Central Highlands Regional Council advises of the passing of Mr Keith Purdie. Mr Purdie passed away on 16 July 2021 with his funeral service held in Yeppoon today.
Mayor Kerry Hayes expressed deepest condolences to Mr Purdie’s family and friends.
‘Mr Purdie served as a chief executive officer in the Central Highlands local government area for over three decades,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘He has been a great advocate for the region and its people, and his legacy will long be remembered and appreciated.’
Mr Purdie was the former CEO of Peak Downs Shire Council from 1965 to 1969, the Emerald Shire Council from 1969 to 2001 and Bauhinia Shire Council from 2002 to 2003.
When the council office building opened in Emerald in 2007, the forecourt was named after Mr Keith Purdie to recognise his long service and dedication to the Central Highlands region.
In his honour, flags in his hometowns of Emerald and Capella will be flown at half-mast today.
