Council continues to work through replacing approximately 10,000 old water meters across the Central Highlands.
Replacing water meters only takes a few minutes. However, if the meter base and tap need to be replaced, you may experience a disruption to your water supply for up to 45 minutes. If at home, residents will be notified by the attending council worker.
Like all mechanical devices, water meters wear with usage and age. Old water meters can be unreliable and often provide incorrect water consumption data.
General Manager Infrastructure and Utilities Jason Hoolihan said replacing old water meters will significantly improve the accuracy of water meter reads and billing.
‘Don’t be alarmed if you see a council worker in your front yard, as they will be checking and replacing water meters in the coming months.
‘There is no need to be home while this program is rolling out,’ he said.
A reading of the old meter will be recorded for billing purposes. If you have any questions regarding the program or your water bill, please call council on 1300 242 686.
