Central Highlands Regional Council will issue half-yearly water notices this week, with an extended discount period of 60 days.
The notices will include the water access charge for January to June 2020 and water consumption charges from June 2019 to November 2019.
Mayor Kerry Hayes said the bills were a little later than usual as they are the first water notices to be issued through council’s new corporate software system.
‘We understand these notices are coming out a little later than anticipated and appreciate this may put some of our ratepayers out in terms of their budgeting,’ he said.
‘I remind everyone that we have flexible instalment plans if you are struggling financially and a 50% subsidy for eligible pensioners, so please contact council directly on 1300 242 686 if you would like to discuss your options.
‘We have also doubled the discount period from 30 to 60 days. This means ratepayers who pay their notices in full, including arrears, within 60 days of their notice issue date will receive a ten percent discount.’
The notices will be issued in several batches. Ratepayers are asked to please take note of their respective due date.
Council offers ratepayers a variety of payment options, with preferred methods being:
- In person with cash or card at council’s customer service centres
- In person at any Australia Post office or online via Post Billpay
- Credit card over the phone
- By direct debit, either via a total deduction on the notice due date or periodic deductions. An application form to set up direct debit is available on council’s website.
