Emerald, Blackwater and Bluff residents can expect water restrictions will tighten to level two in the coming month if it does not rain.
Central Highlands’ Mayor Kerry Hayes said people in the towns should be aware and prepare to conserve water a little more.
‘Our region is in the dry time of the year now, and the last rain season did not provide the top up we all would hope for,’ Mayor Hayes said.
‘Hence, it is prudent that we remind ourselves to save water until a hopefully wetter summer starts.’
Mayor Hayes said council consistently monitors a number of factors to determine water restrictions across the region.
‘As part of managing our water resources and allocation, council will increase water restriction levels as required.’
‘In Emerald, Blackwater and Bluff, this may happen in the coming month if it does not rain.’
Mayor Hayes said people should familiarise themselves with the watering times and allowances via council’s website.
