Building & renovating

By offering a building approval function “in house” the Council is able to co-ordinate a “whole of development” approval service for its customers. This co-operative approach benefits the customer, as well as the Council, by ensuring that all the details of the development are addressed, along with the building work.

The Owner’s and Builder’s legal responsibilities in regards to building work are numerous. In order to protect yourself against liability and to ensure peace of mind that knowing your building complies with the relevant requirements, there are a number of important criteria you should consider when deciding on a Building/Private Certifier. These include:

  • Professionalism
  • Integrity
  • Experience
  • Knowledge
  • Commitment for the long term
  • Quality assessment (and procedures) and advice

Central Highlands Regional Council’s Building Department is proud to be able to offer this level of service and more. Being part of a Local Authority, you can be assured of our long-term commitment to you and your building needs. We offer a fast, reliable service from an experienced and helpful team on preliminary advice, Development Approval co-ordination and certification and inspections for all domestic, commercial and industrial development.
