Council provides community housing in Emerald, Duaringa, Springsure, Capella, Anakie and Sapphire to eligible tenants of the Queensland Government’s one social housing system and local government community housing agreements.
Eligibility and income requirements may vary from time to time in accordance with changes in Queensland Department of Housing and Public Works criteria.
The Central Highlands (Qld) Housing Company Limited (CHQHC), a not-for-profit organisation, was established in 2012 to provide a local response to affordable housing needs in our region.
The Company’s activities are strategically focused and seek to promote better access to affordable housing in the Central Highlands.
Whilst the Central Highlands Regional Council play a role in the governance of the Housing Company by board membership, the company is financially independent from Council.
