Dempsey Park is tucked amongst a quiet residential area, this park has a well-maintained grassed area with shady trees around it. Dempsey Park is fenced with playground equipment scattered in several cluster areas. There is a section for toddlers, for bigger children and a section for teens with more challenging play equipment. All sections are under the shade. There are swings, a fort with slippery dip, climbing frames, big spider webs climbing frames, etc. Plenty of picnic tables with one BBQ area.
Japanese Gardens marks the relationship between Blackwater and its sister city, Fujisawa in Japan. When walking through the beautiful garden you will find amazing plants, art sculptures, ponds, and all the elements of nature.
Lions Park has an amazing display of different international flags that were erected as a visual tribute to all those people of different nationalities who combined their efforts to mould Blackwater into a thriving township. This park is also known as Frank Tutungi Memorial Park which is named after one of the Blackwater Lions Charter Members, Frank Tutungi who was also the first Blackwater Lion to become a District Governor. Lions Park is a great rest stop to relax, play and stretch.
The Blackwater Skate Park opened in 2021, it caters to a range of skateboarding styles and abilities. It include a pump track for beginner and intermediate bike riders, shelters, lighting, CCTV, landscaping and seating. From toddlers on scooters to skateboarders and cyclists, the new park is providing a safe place for fun, healthy activities as well as community and youth-based events. The skate park is located just across from Rotary Park, effectively creating a community activity precinct in Blackwater for everyone to enjoy and build community spirit.
Rotary Park had a great upgrade to the facility in 2021 providing large picnic areas, BBQs, and large shelters, to enjoy by large amounts of kids and adults. It’s a perfect place for kid’s birthday parties and events. There are many community events held at Rotary Park. There is a running train for kids and adults to hop on and enjoy a ride, it runs on community events or when booked with the Rotary Club in Blackwater.
Sunshine Park provides fitness equipment, a long walking/biking track, a large grassy area, and a playground. This park tries to promote healthy living in Blackwater by having an area to increase the community’s fitness outdoors.
This park has something to cater for every age group, from young to older. It has a skate park for great entertainment and the whole area is fenced to let the kids have fun in this amazing space. There are two electric BBQs for easy use while making lunch for the whole family and/or friends.
Tom Ohl Park was named after Tom Ohl who was integral in the growth of Bluff and commonly known as the unofficial Lord Mayor. This park features a beautiful War Memorial and green scenery.
Amaroo Park is a fenced grassy area with a
large shaded playground and plenty of space to play sports. There is a BBQ and plenty of picnic areas to enjoy a feed with your friends or family.
Lions Park is a long strip next to the Highway. It’s a great spot to rest, play and have a feed with the family. It has a great naturally shaded playground and a long walking/biking track.
Memorial Park is a great option on a hot day. This large park has plenty of shaded areas, including a playground, a great skate park, and picnic areas. There is plenty of space to be active.
This rest area is home to The Dig Tree, marked in 1847 during explorer Ludwig Leichhardt’s travel along the river, it is now a tourist attraction in the township of Comet. A diary and papers belonging to Leichhardt were buried in a canister at the base of the famous coolabah tree. It a great area to play, rest, learn history or enjoy a feed on the BBQ.
This park is a great place to stop with the younger aged children. It’s a very small and quiet area, that is located next to the Dingo Community Hall and the Dingo Tennis Courts.
This park has a large playground that caters to children of all ages. It has a great skate park that will amuse older kids to adults. To add to this, the whole area is fenced to let the kids have fun and safe in this amazing space. There is one electric BBQ for easy use while making lunch for the whole family and/or friends.
Mackenzie Park is a popular area next to the highway. It’s a camping/resting place that is next to the Information Center. It has an amazing playground for the kids, showers to clean off after a long drive, elective BBQs, and plenty of picnic areas. It has everything you need in one stop.
Apex Park is located on the corner of Dundas Street and Capricorn Highway and home to the Visitor Information Centre and The historic, Emerald Pioneer Village.
The park also adjoins part of Morton Park, not easily missed as you are passing through due to the famous Van Gogh Sunflower Painting.
The superstructure is 25 meters and represents the Central Highland’s past as a major sunflower producer.
The park adjoins sporting fields and the Emerald Skate Park, is regularly used for local markets, picnics, photography and is a great stop over to walk your four legged friends.
The Emerald Botanic Gardens is a tropical paradise, providing the perfect location for relaxing strolls with your four legged friends, sharing a great book with a magnificent tree or setting upon family adventures.
Established in 1988 by the Emerald Shire Council and substantial local resident support, its home to 12 different themed plant communities, most representing plant species that are native to the region. In 2023, it was formally recognised by Botanic Gardens Australia & New Zealand Limited (BGANZ).
It is the only botanic gardens located within Central Highlands, covering as area of 42 hectares (42,000 square meters). The gardens have six kilometers of walking tracks and regularly used for park runs, cross country races and local community events. Includes an abundance of picnic areas, playgrounds, mazes, sculptures, kayaking, fishing and specialised plant communities from a rainforest section to wetlands.

This large open area is fenced and surrounded by shady palm trees. It’s a relaxing and quiet space you can enjoy a picnic lunch with the family, whilst the youth play on the swings or have a blast playing soccer or touch on the open green grass.
This park is a complement to the Emerald Library, situated behind the facility and including a community garden.
The park is a small but sociable space with plenty of seating areas for gatherings, bring along a picnic rug to read one of the many books you’ve just checked out from our amazing library or a perfect place to study outside four walls.
Lions Park is a great family-friendly area, that is located near the center of town. It’s a must-visit park due to it’s colorful playground providing different types of activities for young to older children with plenty of shade and seating areas.
Maranda Heights Park is located in a large quiet neighborhood area. It is a perfect location for a family BBQ providing two shaded structures, electric BBQs, drinking fountain and plenty of tables for picnics a with added bonus of ample grassed space for a friendly (or competitive) game of backyard cricket.
Margaret Gibson Park is a large area that would be great for family sporting activities. It has an amazing playground for the kids. A seating area for a family and plenty of grassy area for a well-set picnic under large beautifully shaded trees.
A fantastic and secured fenced park with a large grassed open area, a large table and chairs to fit a family of 4-6 and a climbing playground to keep the youth entertained whilst you lead your four legged friend in a game of hide and seek.
Emerald Rotary Park in conjunction with the Rotary Club of Emerald have worked together to provide this fantastic space for community gatherings, birthday parties, a well needed rest stop as you travel through town or a space to step away from the adjacent Emerald Hospital.
Grab a coffee to go and pull up a space whilst the youth adventure the amazing playground and grassed areas, there is a modern amenities block on site for your convenience.
There’s plenty of space to run around for all ages at Rundle Park. Get a team, come together and use this large field for sporting games and activities like soccer, touch football , backyard cricket and there is even a couple of cricket nets.
There is an amenities building and public access to the netball court excluding when netball members are playing within the netball season.
Steve Bell Park is located in a quiet neighborhood and has plenty to offer for all ages. The park has disability access and toilets. The largely shaded playground is more suited for younger aged kids, yet there is an amazing tennis court open to the public and is great for youth and all ages.

Located in the heart of Rolleston, Beazley Park features the Purbrook Hut (historic site), an art gallery, a coffee cart, a large fenced playground, and picnic facilities. There are lots of activities to do for the kids with a skate park, flying fox, and basketball hoop.
This park is located right on the side of Gregory HWY north of Springsure. It’s a small and relaxing area to stop and have a break. Sit in the shaded picnic shape and you will get a great view of the amazing hills and mountains that Springsure has to provide. There is plenty of parking space for cars, trucks, and caravans.
This park has plenty to provide. There is a massive playground area and an electric BBQ to use for a lunch break. 50m walk down the road and you will arrive at the Wool Shed and Tourist Information Center that will supply you with the history and old artifacts of the area. It’s a must-stop area for the family to enjoy.

This area is a large space with a brilliant skate park and netball courts to provide exercise and activities for you, your friends and family. This site has a shaded area with a bubbler to rest from all the fun activities that the Springsure Skate Park provides.
Lions Park is a large green area that is located next to the Christopher McMillan Memorial Field. It has an amazing playground and a flying fox to entertain the kids. There are plenty of picnic areas and BBQs to use for great feed. Lions Park is a great stop to come for a walk/bike ride and to just come to relax.
